Damask: Traditional and Timeless



Damask is a jacquard weave and is usually woven using one colour and a combination of weaving techniques. To create the shiny pattern and the matt background of damask, the pattern part, warp threads are a satin weave and the ground fabric is a sateen weave. Damask fabric is reversable, one side has a shiny background and the opposite side has a shiny pattern. It just depends on preference as to which way it is used
Characteristics:
Damask fabrics offer a very traditional look, its timeless and elegant. Due to the weave of the fabric, it is better suited to curtains and soft furnishings. Small upholstery items would also work well with damask fabric. Damask would be better suited to light use upholstery
